Aprikosen / Apricot

Seit gut einer Woche blüht unser Aprikosenspalier. Ein "gefundenes Fressen für Bienen und Hummeln". Und gestern fand ich die erste Aprikose, welche, hoffentlich, in den kommenden Wochen zu einer grossen köstlichen Frucht anwachsen wird. Mann/Frau stellt fest: Der Frühling kommt.

Our apricot espalier has been in bloom for a good week now. It’s a real feast for bees and bumblebees. And yesterday I found the first apricot, which will hopefully grow into a large, delicious fruit over the coming weeks. It really makes you realise: spring is on its way.

Wimmelbild / find the hidden objects

Baustellen sind oft trostlos und öde. In diesem Fall hat sich der Bauherr etwas einfallen lassen. Er zeigt mittels einem Wimmelbild wie sein Kerngeschäft aussieht bzw. was er macht. Ratet einmal!

Construction sites are often bleak and dreary. In this case, the client has come up with a clever idea. Using a ‘find the hidden objects’ game, they’re showing what their core business looks like – or rather, what they do. Have a guess! 

Baustelle oder Bahnhof? / Construction site or railway station?

Beides! Der Bahnhof Bern wird umgebaut bzw. erweitert.  Dabei beleibt der Bahnhof als Verkehrsknotenpunkt mit wenigen Einschränkungen im Betrieb. Bis im Jahr 2034 sollen die auszuführenden Arbeiten abgeschlossen sein.

Both! Bern railway station is being renovated and expanded.  The station will remain open as a transport hub with few restrictions on operations. The work is scheduled to be completed by 2034.

Sanduhr / Hourglass / Cloche à sable

In der Kirche von Ligerz befindet sich auf der Kanzel eine Sanduhr. Eine sogenannte Kanzeluhr, oft auch Predigtuhr genannt. Sie ist an der Kanzel angebracht und dient dazu, die Dauer der Predigt vorzugeben. Einfach, unkompliziert und zweckmässig. Wie sinnvoll/nützlich wäre eine solche Kanzeluhr in anderen Organisationen…

 

There is an hourglass in the pulpit of the church in Ligerz. It is known as a pulpit clock, often referred to as a sermon clock. It is attached to the pulpit and serves to indicate the duration of the sermon. Simple, straightforward and practical. How useful would such a pulpit clock be in other organisations...

die vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, ist diese Haus im Weiler Camana im Safiental aus dem Jahr 1707. Heute dient dieses Gebäude als Heimatmuseum.

Inschrift am Haus: „DES MENSCHEN LEBEN IST WIE EIN KLOGENKLANG, ES FART DAHIN UND WÄRT NIT LANG“

the United States of America, this house in the hamlet of Camana in the Safien Valley dates back to 1707. Today, the building serves as a local history museum.

Kirche Thalkirch

Die 1441 ersturkundlich erwähnte Kirche gilt als ältestes Gotteshaus im Safiental. Sie gehört zur Kirchgemeinde Safiental innerhalb der Evangelisch-reformierte Landeskirche Graubünden. Kirchturm und Schiff weisen mittelalterliche Bausubstanz und Stilmerkmale der aus der Romanik auf. Zur Kirche gehört ein von einer Sichtsteinmauer umgebener Friedhof.

First mentioned in a document in 1441, this church is considered the oldest place of worship in the Safiental valley. It belongs to the Safiental parish within the Evangelical Reformed Church of Graubünden. The church tower and nave feature medieval architecture and Romanesque stylistic elements. The church has a cemetery surrounded by an exposed stone wall.
