Sie haben richtig gelesen, 15-mal wird dieser Märchenfilm aus dem Jahr 1973 auf den öffentlich-rechtlichen deutsch sprachigen Fernsehkanälen gesendet. Das sollte eigentlich ausreichen. (Hinzu kommen noch etliche Streamingdienste und DVDs...)

Im englischsprachigen Raum gibt es ähnliche/vergleichbare Geschichten, welche über die Festtage gesendet werden (z.B.: Dinner for One). 

Aber da gibt es noch etwas ganz Spezielles: Die Novelle «The Shepherd» von Frederick Forsyth. Sie wird am Heilig Abend auf diversen Radiostationen gesendet. Unter anderem auch von CBC Radio. Die Novelle (vorgelesen von Alan Maitland) findet sich ebenfalls auf YouTube. 

Zur Handlung: Am Heiligabend 1957 soll ein junger britischer Kampfpilot mit seiner DH.100 Vampire vom Militär Flughafen Celle zum Stützpunkt RAF Lakenheath fliegen. Über der Nordsee fallen die Navigationsinstrumente und sein Funk aus. Als dann noch Nebel aufzieht, wird ihm klar, dass er keine Möglichkeit hat, irgendwo zu landen… 

Um „The Shepherd“ zu hören, schalten Sie am Freitag, den 23. Dezember um 18:30 Uhr (19:00 Uhr in Neufundland) CBC Radio 1 ein, oder streamen Sie live oder auf Abruf auf CBC Listen oder der CBC Listen App. Eine ältere Version ist auf YouTube zu finden. Dort findet man auch einen Trickfilm (mit Open Source Tools produziert) oder eine Simulation des Flugs mit dem Microsoft Flug Simulator.

You read correctly, 15 times this fairy tale film from 1973 is broadcast on the public German-language television channels. That should actually be enough. (In addition, there are several streaming services and DVDs).

In the English-speaking world, there are similar/comparable stories that are broadcast over the festive season (e.g.: Dinner for One). 

But there is something very special: the novel "The Shepherd" by Frederick Forsyth. It will be broadcast on various radio stations on Christmas Eve. Among them is CBC Radio. The novella (read by Alan Maitland) can also be found on YouTube. 

The plot: On Christmas Eve 1957, a young British fighter pilot is to fly his DH.100 Vampire from Celle military airport to RAF Lakenheath base. Over the North Sea, the navigation instruments and his radio fail. When fog rolls in, he realises that he has no chance of landing anywhere...
