Erlebnis Schulweg / The walk to school

In gut zwei Wochen sind die Sommerferien vorbei und die Schule gehört wieder zum Alltag. In diesem Quartal beginnen die neuen Schüler ihre in der Schweiz obligatorische Schulzeit. Ein neuer Lebensabschnitt beginnt. Zur Schule gehört auch der Schulweg, der früher zu Fuss, mit dem Velo oder mit dem Bus oder sogar dem Zug absolviert wurde. Ja früher war dem so. Heute kommt aber oft das Elterntaxi zum Einsatz. Mit guter Absicht, aber oft auch negativen Folgen. Ein wichtiger Teil des sozialen Lebens geht damit verloren. Dies wurde erkannt, und die ersten Massnahmen sind ersichtlich. Wie dieses Plakat vor einer Schule. Erheiternd, ermunternd aber auch aus meiner Sicht etwas bedenklich.

We walk to school!

In just over two weeks, the summer holidays will be over and school will be part of everyday life once again. This term, new pupils will begin their compulsory schooling in Switzerland. A new chapter in their lives is about to begin. Part of school life is the walk to school, which used to be done on foot, by bike, by bus or even by train. Yes, that’s how it used to be. Today, however, the ‘parent taxi’ is often the norm. This is done with good intentions, but often has negative consequences. An important part of social life is thus being lost. This has been recognised, and the first measures are becoming apparent. Take this poster outside a school, for example. It’s amusing and encouraging, but also, in my view, a little worrying.
