Es war einmal / Once upon a time

Es gab Zeiten, da waren Dia Filme wie Kodachrome 64, Ektachrome 100 in aller Munde (zumindest bei den Fotographen). Zu Beginn der 90er Jahre machte sich aber die digitale Bilderstellung/Bearbeitung bemerkbar. Die Firma Kodak reagierte 1992 auf diesen Trend mit der Kodak Photo CD bzw. den dazugehörigen Produkten und Services. In der Zwischenzeit ist ein viertel  Jahrhundert vergangen. Die Firma Kodak die im Jahr 1892 gegründet wurde, gibt es in dieser Form nicht mehr (sie ging Bankrott). Die neue/nachfolgende Firma heisst nun Kodak Alaris und ist «etwas» kleiner. Die Lesegeräte (spezielle CD Player) der Firma Kodak für Photo CDs gibt es nicht mehr. Software, welche das proprietäre Format (ImagePac) lesen kann, läuft nur noch auf PCs vom Typ Asbach Uralt. Sind somit die noch vorhandenen Photo CD wertlos geworden? Nein! Dank der Software IrfanView bzw. dem zugehörigen Plug-In, können die Daten noch gelesen/gerettet werden. Die Qualität ist recht gut. Meine Ferienerinnerungen sind somit gerettet!

There were times when slide films like Kodachrome 64, Ektachrome 100 were on everyone's lips (at least with the photographers). At the beginning of the 90's the digital image creation/editing became apparent. Kodak responded to this trend in 1992 with the Kodak Photo CD and the associated products and services. In the meantime, a quarter of a century has passed. The Kodak company, founded in 1892, no longer exists in this form (it went bankrupt). The new/successor company is now called Kodak Alaris and is "slightly" smaller. Kodak's readers (special CD players) for photo CDs no longer exist. Software, which can read the proprietary format (ImagePac), runs only on very old PCs. Have the still existing Photo CD become worthless? No! Thanks to the software IrfanView or the corresponding plug-in, the data can still be read/rescued. The quality is quite good.  My holiday memories are thus saved!

Panoramen in der Stadt, geht denn das? Bis vor kurzen war ich der Meinung: „Eher nicht“. Aber Mann/Frau lernt nie aus. In Bern wird im Moment das Stadt Theater renoviert.  Ein Bauzaun umgibt das gesamte Gebäude, damit die Arbeiten nicht gestört und die Passanten geschützt sind. Damit auch der hinterste und letzte merkt was da abgeht, ist die Bretterwand schwarz gestrichen und mit farbigen Plakaten des Konzert Theater Bern versehen. So lautet nämlich der neue Name des Stadt Theaters.

 

Panoramas in the city, does that work? Until recently, I thought: "Probably not." However you never know… In Bern (capital of Switzerland), the City Theater is being renovated at the moment. A fence surrounds the entire building, so that the work is not disturbed and the passersby are protected.

In order that everybody knows what’s going on, the board wall is painted black and provided with the colored posters of “Konzert Theater Bern”. This is the new name of the city theater.
