80 years ago...

Vor 80 Jahren, genau am 18.September 1946 hielt Winston Churchill in Zürich seine berühmte Europa Rede. Er sprach damals über seine Vision für eine friedliches Europa und schloss mit den Worten: «Let Europe Arise!»  Aus meiner persönlichen Sicht eine bemerkenswerte/interessante Rede zu einem interessanten Thema, welches aus meiner Sicht immer noch aktuell ist.

 

Eighty years ago, on 18 September 1946 to be precise, Winston Churchill gave his famous ‘Europe’ speech in Zurich. He spoke at the time about his vision for a peaceful Europe and concluded with the words: ‘Let Europe Arise!’ In my personal view, it was a remarkable and interesting speech on an interesting topic, which I believe is still relevant today.

 

Prime Tower

Dieses Gebäude, der Prime Tower in Zürich, ist schon ein beeindruckendes Hochhaus: Moderne Architektur mit viel Glas; sehr viel Glas. Wie sich ein solches Gebäude bei grosser Hitze verhält entzieht sich meiner Kenntnis. Zum diesem Thema gibt es ein sehr interessantes Dokument: Bauen, wenn das Klima wärmer wird.

Hier noch ein kleines Detail, das nicht ganz zur modernen Architektur passt...

This building, the Prime Tower in Zürich, is a quite impressive skyscraper: Modern architecture with lots of glass; much glass. How such a building behaves by very high heat is beyond my knowledge. Here is a very interesting about that topic: Building when the climate gets warmer.
