Nebel, Fog

Nebliges Wetter ist nicht gerade ideales Wetter um zu fotografieren. Oder eben doch? Nun ja, ich war kürzlich an einem Kurs im Tagungszentrum (CentreLöwenberg) der Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen. Viel Zeit zum Fotografieren blieb nicht übrig; es ist ist immer noch Winter und schnell dunkel. Über Mittag hatte ich aber etwas Zeit die Gegend zu inspizieren. Dabei fiel mir auch das Tagungshotel mit seinen 192 Zimmern auf. Es stammt wie auch die anderen modernen Gebäude aus dem Jahr 1983 und wurde unter der Federführung von Fritz Haller erbaut (bekannt auch für seine USM Haller Möbel). Hier einige wenige Bilder vom Hotel bzw. den beiden Wohntürmen.

Foggy weather is not exactly the ideal weather to take pictures (at least from my point of view). Or maybe yes? Recently, I was on a course at the convention center (Centre Löwenberg) of the Swiss Federal Railways. There was not plenty of time left to take pictures (still wintertime with early dusk). But over lunch I had some time to inspect the area an I noticed the conference hotel with its 192 rooms. This modern building dates back to 1983 and was built under the direction of Fritz Haller (maybe you know it famous its USM modular furniture). Here a few pictures from the hotel with the two residential towers.

Blüemlisalp

The Blüemlisalp is a massif of the Bernese Alps and an old Steamboat on the lake Thun. About a year ago I also wrote about a trip we (my wife and I) done in January of last year. After Christmas Day we made the trip in the opposite way (means from Interlaken to Thun). This time bought a 1st Class ticket for the upper deck. Since the steamboat left after 3 p.m. Interlaken, we arrived by night in Thun. Have a look at the picture I took during this trip.

Surfing in the City...

Vor gut 200 Jahren wurde der Fluss Kander in den Thunersee umgeleitet. Seit diesem Zeitpunkt waren etliche wasserbaulichen Korrekturen notwendig. Eine dieser Korrekturen ist die Scherzlig Schleuse. Diese Schleuse ist Teil eines grossen Regelwerkes für die Regulierung der See- und Flusspegel. Sind die Schleusentore offen, so entsteht unterhalb der Schleuse eine stehende Welle. Ideal für Surfer und Zuschauer die sich im Zentrum der Stadt Thun aufhalten.

200 years ago the River Kander was diverted into Lake Thun. Since then, a number of hydraulic engineering corrections were necessary. One of these corrections is the Scherzlig lock. This lock is part of a large set of rules for the regulation of the lake and river levels. Are the floodgates open, the result is below the lock a standing wave. Ideal for surfers and spectators who are in the center of Thun.

PolydesignerIn3D

Dieser Beruf war mir früher unter dem Namen Schaufenster Dekorateur/In bekannt. In der Zwischenzeit hat sich dieser Beruf bzw. diese Berufsgattung markant weiter entwickelt. Eine genaue Beschreibung dieses Berufes ist hier zu finden.

Kürzlich ist mir dieses Schaufenster eines Coiffeurs (der Frisör) in der Stadt Bern aufgefallen. Dazu kann ich nur sagen: gelungen. Dieser Polidesigner3D bzw. diese Polydesignerin3D hat hier ausgezeichnete Arbeit geliefert.

 

This profession was earlier known as a “window dresser”. In the meantime, this profession or this occupational group has evolved significantly. A detailed description of this profession can be found here.

Recently I saw this showcase of a hairdresser (der Frisör) in the city of Bern. All I can say: good job.

Blur

Fall and winter is definitely not a season I like. When you get up to work it’s still dark outside. When you come home from work again it’s dark. It’s definitely not a good time for taking pictures.  There is (from my point of view) only one work around. Take your camera with you whenever you can.  Such a camera is my Minox ML . In the last few weeks a  Fuji slide film with 100 ASA was used with my camera. Since the temperatures are falling, people like to stay inside the railway station. An opportunity  to observe the people how they move around. With a 100 ASA slide film this is not that easy.  You get long exposure times and blur effects. Sometime such effects become interesting:
